Numerology, also known as “study of numbers,” is a method of divination that states that everything has a numerical value that helps us understand the world around us. Although it came into being several centuries ago under the impetus of ancient mystics, it has gradually grown into three very distinct systems: the Pythagorean, the Chaldean and the Kabbalah system. These calculation methods all aim to make the numbers speak to help you identify your strengths and weaknesses, to interpret your existence, to explain your destiny. The calculation to be deployed differs depending on the system.

  • The Pythagorean assigns a number to each of the letters of the “Western” alphabet, from 1 to 9.
  • The Kabbalah system is similar but is based on a 22-digit table.
  • The Chaldean system is concerned with both the date of birth and the name.

If the three systems are still all three in use today, it is the Pythagorean which remains by far the most popular. Note that for many numerologists, Chaldean is more precise and less prone to bias. This preference for the Pythagorean finds its origin in its simplicity and practicality. For the Pythagorean school, “everything is knowable by number and nothing can be known or even conceived without it”. Thus, the numbers no longer have an exclusively quantitative dimension but take on a qualitative meaning which expresses the vibratory link between man and the numbers that surround him. Numerology and the life path more specifically can contribute to a better understanding of the world but also of oneself.

Life path number calculator

The life path is the most significant number in the Pythagorean system. How to calculate your life path? Modern numerology therefore takes up the Hebrew numeral alphabet of Kabbalistic gematria (or gematria). The calculation of the life path according to the Pythagorean system is confusing in its simplicity. You just have to add the numbers that make up your date of birth to calculate your life path by respecting the following guidelines:

  • First, add each element of your date of birth separately (the digits that make up the day form the first number, the digits that make up the month form the second number, the digits that make up the year of birth form the third number );
  • If one of the three numbers formed results in a Master Number (11, 22 or 33), keep them intact without adding them together (11 does not become 2 and 22 does not become 4);
  • Then add the three numbers to arrive at your Life Path.

Be careful, calculating your life path is not just about adding everything up at once. You risk ending up with the wrong number and therefore a biased interpretation of your destiny. Here is an example of a widely used incorrect method:

  • Date of birth: May 4, 1977;
  • Month of birth = 5;
  • Day of birth = 4;
  • Year of birth: 1977;
  • 5 + 4 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 7 = 33. We therefore end up with the number Master 33, which is necessary.

The mistake here was not to add up the numbers for the year of birth before proceeding with the final calculation. The total of the digits that make up the year 1977 is 6 (1 + 9 + 7 + 7 = 24 and 2 + 4 = 6). So 5 (May) + 4 (birthday) + 6 (total of digits for the year) results in 15, and 1 + 5 = 6. So the Life Path in this specific example is 6.

What does your life path reveal

The life path is the general itinerary that was given to us at birth and that we will face throughout our lives.

It allows us to know the dominant influence of our existence, and shows us the main stages to go through.

  • What is our life mission?
  • What are we made for?
  • What are our strengths and weaknesses?

Discover without further delay, what the main axes of your destiny predispose you to.

To find your Life Path, you need to add the day, month, and year that you were born, and then reduce the total to a number between 1 and 9.

With the exception of the master numbers 11, 22 and 33 which are not reduced.

Ex: you were born on 09/25/1987

25 + 9 + 1987 = 2021
2 + 0 + 2 + 1 = 5

Your Life Path is 5.
